1. RESOLE YOUR SHOES
This was something that was recommended to me when I got my beloved Isabel Marant Dicker boots. If you get a sole put on when the shoes are new, any wear will wear away at the sole and not the actual shoe (does that make sense?) Then you can just re-sole your shoes again. I’ve done this with every one of my designer shoes.
2. INVEST IN CLEANING + CONDITIONING SUPPLIES
You spent good money on them, now take care of them! When purchasing, be sure to ask if the company has a type of cleaner or conditioner that they use, as that will be the safest option for that shoe/bag. I never really knew what leather conditioning was (or cared for that matter), but someone recently described it to me as moisturizer for your shoes. This will keep them from cracking, wrinkling or flaking. Lastly, be sure to use a weather protectant spray and use it a few times a year.
3. USE THE DUST BAGS
They give you these for a reason: to protect from color transfer, sun exposure, excess moisture, and dust. You can also use them to wipe down or clean the bag or shoe.
4. DON’T OVERFILL YOUR BAG
Leather stretches and if you overstuff your bag, it may change the shape of your bag. Also, too heavy of a bag can cause premature wear + tear.
5. STUFF IT
To help your bag and shoes keep their shape, you need to store them properly. Whether it’s with a shoe tree or just tissue paper, stuff your shoes and bags to keep them looking better for longer. Regular use of a shoe tree or bag stuffing will maintain the shape and prevent shrinkage and creasing.

I have been wanting to ask you this for so long! I’m glad I waited.
This is such good advice. I have always been reluctant to invest in nice pieces because I just SUCK at taking care of stuff… Kudos to you for always keeping your pieces looking like new.
Is it ok for the bags to display it without the dustbag? I love staring all of them. Lol
Thank you
What product are you using for those shoes (Gucci)?
what weather protectant spray do you use?
Author
I use one by Moneysworth + Best, but most will work!

Trying to decide between the gucci jordaans and brixton… what do you think?
Author
Hmmm… tough choice! The Jordaans are more classic I would say, and will probably last longer because you’re not folding them down to make them into a slide.

I love your style! Great post!

What kind of sole did you use for your gucci/givency loafers? Like what color? I have to resole gucci loafers and the bottoms are tan but not sure if i should go with a black sole since the shoes are black. Thanks

Hi, do you resoled both the sole and the heels of your new Jordaan or just the sole? Iām asking as my cobble advised to resole the sole only or the heels will be too high if I do both. Thank you
Author
Hi! I think both otherwise they won’t be the same height anymore?
