In stark contrast to my last post, here is another “colour” (or lack thereof) that I can’t stop wearing. I am definitely not one of those people who forego black for bright colours in the summer, despite the heat absorption issue that black presents.
Having said that, there are ways to stay cool in this perpetually-chic shade:
1. Pick a breathable and light fabric– silk, cotton, lace, chiffon or anything natural breathes much better than man-made fabrics and is key to staying cool.
2. Show a sliver of skin– whether you are embracing the crop top trend, or are just showing off your arms or legs (or both- it IS summer!), showing some skin in a black dress/outfit is a great way to avoid overheating.
3. Avoid high necklines and long sleeves (apart from a jacket/sweater, if need be). You tend to look a bit like a widow and those areas are also the first sweat in the sun.
Do you guys wear black all-year round as well? Or do you pull out your brights in the summer?
I do wear black in the summer…but like you mentioned, I chose lighter weight fabrics….
