5 STAPLE PIECES YOU NEED FOR SUMMER

I love summer fashion, but when it gets super hot, I don’t want to have to think too much about what I’m going to wear. I like to streamline my wardrobe into versatile (and comfortable) pieces that will get me through the season. As if you needed another reason to shop (I never do…) Nordstrom is having their Half-Yearly sale (up to 40% off), now through until 27th (trust me, find your local store and get in there). I went shopping at the Toronto Eaton Centre location ahead of time and curated a list of 5 staple pieces you need for summer.

1. WHITE BLAZER

All I want to wear this summer is linen – it’s a match made in heaven. You can literally throw this blazer over anything – it’s the perfect topper to look effortlessly pulled together.

2. BLUSH SILK SLIP DRESS

The silk slip dress never lets me down. The muted pink of this T by Alexander Wang dress is great for summer (and good for someone like me, who needs to start slower with colour…) The slip dress shouldn’t hug your body too tightly, but skim over it in a flattering and comfortable way. It’s also easily dressed up or down (pair it with sneakers and a crossbody bag for day).

3. NUDE PUMP OR MULE

This is a shoe that every woman needs in her wardrobe. The nude pump (or mule) goes with literally anything and everything and is incredibly flattering because of it elongates your legs. These Lewit pumps are comfortable, breathable and timeless and could even be worn with your favourite pair of jeans for a casual dinner with friends.

4. TOTE BAG

I’m very into structured bags at the moment and this Rebecca Minkoff gem is an ideal size. It’s big enough to handle all your necessities but small enough to grab for a night out – perfect for any dress code or event.

5. LETTER NECKLACES

I cannot stop wearing dainty gold necklaces. I especially love how the wording detail (Love) makes a ladylike piece a little bit quirky. This one is also perfect for layering – make this piece the middleman, sitting in between a thin choker and a longer pendant.
