Call me a grandma, but my favourite sensations are washing my face, taking off my bra at the end of the day, and getting into bed – I make an audible sigh when doing all three. I guess if I had to pick a favourite, there is honestly no better feeling than washing your face. Say what you will, but I like the simple things in life. I’m sure there are other things I’m missing out on, I just haven’t been to Harry Potter World yet 🙂
Here I used the new PreCleanse Balm from Dermalogica to do their Triple Threat cleansing routine. You start with the Balm to remove makeup and oil-based debris, then follow with a cleanser and your favourite moisturizer (my current pick is Dermalogica’s Super Rich Repair). Basically your face is as soft and clean as freshly washed sheets (clearly you can tell how much of a role sleep plays in my life).
After prepping my skin, I was excited to play around with Marc Jacobs’ new Eye-Conic shadow palettes. Ever since meeting Hung Vanngo from Marc Jacobs Beauty (an amazing makeup artist who’s actually Canadian!), I’ve wanted to re-create a version of his metallic smokey eye. I hope this tutorial is helpful!
Dermalogica has been kind enough to team up with me to do an Instagram giveaway of the PreCleanse Balm – all you have to do is:
- Follow @dermalogicacdn and @theaugustdiaries on Instagram
- Subscribe to Jillian Lansky on YouTube
- Leave a comment on either the YouTube video or Instagram post (extra entries if you comment on both!)
Good luck!

Love love love this make up look. I love how you always nail the eyes without using eyeliner. I feel like this isn’t easy to do, and for me…I have to tight line so I’m always impressed with your no liner gorgeousness. I assume this is the look from that IG shot in the slip dress!? you looked stunning, girl!
thanks for sharing as always.
