Christmas is by far my favourite holiday. I like it even more than my birthday (I think this happens as you get older haha). I love to watch Christmas movies, bake and eat too many cookies, and get together with family and friends. However, I very much dislike dressing for holiday parties. I don’t like wearing red or green (or any colour, for that matter) and I find that too much sparkle makes you look like an actual Christmas tree.
Anyway, with the holidays fast approaching (how is that even possible?!), I wanted to get a headstart on holiday party dressing. The best way to make a neutral colour like black look “festive” is with the texture. Velvet has made a comeback and I think it’s the perfect holiday fabric. Just please don’t do crushed velvet – trust me.
Sparkle is great in small doses and this choker does the trick. I kept all other jewelry very simple to let the choker shine (literally). Add a shearling jacket, soft smokey eye (see tutorial here) and a pair of boots for a little bit of edge.
What are you guys planning on wearing this holiday season? Do you have any tried and true outfits?

Amazing outfit!! You look just stunning! Black and a touch of brightness is a perfect combo. I love the jacket you chose. Definitely something I would wear to a christmas party. So nice inspiration!

Dear Jill,
I really like this dress but couldn’t find anywhere now since it was many back. If you didn’t wear it anymore, may you sell it back to me? It will be a great outfit for company year-end party.
Best regard,
H
