Winter is coming. I finally went and found myself an actual winter coat. I’ve honestly never owned one before. I had a ski jacket that I wore intermittently, but it wasn’t really a winter coat. In BC, sometimes you can ski in a t-shirt!
I know the weather is all over the place in TO right now but I’m trying to prepare myself for the worst. Some of you say the winters aren’t bad, some of you laugh uncomfortably and say “good luck” (which feels more like a warning than a kind sentiment…).
Anyway, when the new Mackage store opened in Eaton Centre, I marched my West Coat butt in there and picked up a coat made for -25°C (that’s -13°F to you Americans) weather. Wish me luck!

Congrats on your first winter coat! My heavy duty winter coat is my Canada Goose Trillium Parka. It’s for -15C to -25C 🙂

Hah thank you!

Definitely you did a great choice. Where I live, I have to wear a winter coat everyday. Mine is similar to yours, and I love it!

Winter is coming? I sincerely thought you were going to talk about House Stark or Game of Thrones but oh well, you have a beautiful coat!

Ah hah sorry love! I do love GOT, which is why I referenced it 🙂

How do you find it compares to the aritzia coat? Is the aritzia not warm enough?
Author
You mean the Aritzia parka? The Mackage one is longer and made for warmer weather, that’s why I went for it 🙂 But I’ve only worn it once, so I’ll have to keep you posted on it vs. the Aritzia parka 🙂

Yes- sorry! I meant the aritzia parka. I should explain myself.. i am an aussie (so complete novice when it comes to winter dressing!) who finds herself in snow in europe for 2-3 weeks each year. I have been looking at the aritzia parkas – as they seem like good quality, style (and hopefully warmth) for their price? I think i would be a similar size to you- would you mind sharing what size you purchased?
PS i love the aesthetic of your style/blog – am glad my search for a winter parka led me here!
Do you mind me asking what size you purchased? There was no small in store so I tried the medium which felt HUGE so now I’m wondering if maybe x-small would be best. I’m 5′ 4″ and wear a size 2 usually.
Thanks!

Not at all Jodi! I got an XS and am usually a size 0/2. I don’t tend to wear that much underneath it as it’s so warm 🙂
