Maybe I’m a little nuts to be going outside in a slip dress at this time of year… But it’s all in the name of fashion right? These photos were actually taken a few weeks earlier (although I was still cold, I admit). Anyway, wearing a slip dress without looking like you’re ready for bed can be a bit difficult. Here are my tips for what to wear with a silk slip dress:
1. Pair it with something casual
I like to juxtapose the slinkiness of a slip dress with a casual piece, like these loafer slides. It makes it seem more effortless and less like a nightgown.
2. Add a knit
An oversize knit adds texture and also keeps you warm (very key 🙂 ).
3. Wear Spanx!
I am a huge fan of Spanx, no matter what size you are. Silk can be hard to wear and Spanx just smoothes everything out so the silk lies beautifully on your body. I highly recommend investing in a pair! (PS this is not sponsored).

Yes, I’m in the market for the perfect slip dress. I love Cuyana’s version. So, I have to ask, what spanx are your go-to style? I have looked at them so many times and I just can’t figure out what to get. or what size to get. I’m a 4 or 6 in dresses. Now that I’m pushing 40, I really think I NEED to get something to wear under my fitted dresses.

They fit to size, these were just when I first bought them and hadn’t stretched them out yet! Because they’re leather, they will stretch out to fit your foot better 🙂
