I realize this next statement is a bit of an odd one, but I’m not a very good birthday girl. I never really have been. I always end up putting so much pressure on myself to have an amazing time that I let myself down. I really must take notes from two of the best birthday people I know, Katie and Christie. Anyways, this year I feel especially non-birthday-like as it is the first time in my life that I’m having some anxiety about getting older. This was always such a ridiculous notion to me, as there is NOTHING you can do about getting older; it is one of the only certainties in life. But it’s so easy to compare yourself to others and to wish you were a little further along (career, relationship, life-wise) and now I’ve hit the age where I had thought I’d be perhaps in a different place than I am now.
Regardless of my own insecurities, I had a lovely weekend away with my sister and will have some fabulous dinners with friends to celebrate my birthday (which is, in fact, today). And one of the best ways to celebrate is perhaps with a new birthday dress?! Always.
