I’ve turned into my mother. Well, in some ways, at least… I, too, am now always freezing! I remember growing up, she wore layers and layers of sweaters (and we live in Vancouver, mind you) and my sister and I used to make so much fun of her. And now, here I am, layering up and blasting the furnace at all times (sorry about that, Mom). So basically a coat is now a non-negotiable; and working in fashion, a stylish (black) one is essential.
This RW&Co piece plays perfectly to the part of your brain responsible for constantly changing your mind (as all women do). It can be dressed up or dressed down, worn with colour or worn with other tones, worn with solids or worn with print. I think the word they use for that is ‘versatility’ but it might be more apt to just call it ‘easy’.
For me, there is a premium on easy. The coat you can grab out of the closet at home will be worn far more often than the one that needs an entire supporting cast. Think of this coat as Matt Damon – he’s amazing with a huge cast (Ocean’s 11), but can also do the legwork when you’re feeling lazy (he’s basically all alone in The Martian- I just finished reading the book and cannot wait to see the movie!)
My longtime readers may be shocked to see that I’m wearing all black (ha!), but rest assured I’ll be back to pink paisley next week… Ya right, I love black so much I even have a black dog (although that wasn’t intentional- if you’re reading this, hi Roxy!)
