I’m a bit of a beauty junkie. I actually loved makeup first, before fashion, and seriously considered going into makeup artistry before starting in the fashion industry. I find beauty very calming; I love getting ready for a (very rare) night out and taking my time with hair + makeup, listening to music, having a glass of wine. However, I expect a lot out of my makeup products and have spent years testing to find the best of the best. Here are the 5 makeup products I can’t live without:
1. Cle de Peau concealer
I know it’s one of the more expensive concealers (yikes!), but I honestly haven’t found anything that comes close to it in terms of staying power, texture and colour. Somehow it works with my skin whether I’m tan or pale; which means it lasts a super long time (about a year).
2. Dior Diorshow mascara
Makes my lashes thick without looking clumpy. Use one coat for day, two for evening
3. Shu Uemura eyelash curler
Mascara won’t do much unless lashes are properly prepped + curled and this curler is by far the best. I usually curl, apply one coat, curl again and apply second coat – this keeps lashes curled longer.
4. Nars highlighter
Highlighter is something that people (myself included) often forget about. But it’s important to highlight the high points of your face (top of cheekbones, nose, top of your tip) to give that extra glow. This Nars product is glowy and shimmery without being sparkly (which is quite possibly my biggest pet peeve – glitter on the face). I use the colour Albatross and also love Nico.
5. Anastasia brow definer
Brows can truly define a face. If, like me, you’re not naturally born with thick and bushy brows, you’ll need a good pencil. Make sure that the colour has no red in it, because brows are naturally very ashy, regardless of their colour. Red will look fake. I also love having a spooly brush on the other end for quick application.
Do you guys have any must-have beauty products? I’m always looking to try new products out – let me know in the comments!
Fresh skin and defined brows are basics π My must have is YSL Touche Γ©clat concealer, for dark cercles is the best, making natural effect!

An amazing foundation is a must have for me! My go-to is the Burberry Fresh Glow.

Also heard great things about this one! I just have to be careful because my skin is quite oily π

Oh my gosh, yes! Our get ready to go out ambience looks pretty much the same. Vino, music… It has to be calm to create beauty, right!?
So, I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect mascara. I’m about to start on a lash booster (I have pitiful lashes) and I am definitely going to try the Diorshow next time I’m due for mascara. I use bare minerals highlighter & Nars orgasm blush. I wonder if I’d love the Nars highlighter more… something to think about. Also, thanks for the brow definer rec. I’m needing that now too (as I age).
As always, Jill…great post. I’m totally confident about trying your recommendations. I’ve said it before, but you are one of the few bloggers whose authenticity I trust and keep coming back to over and over. Thanks for being you.

Hi Jill!
I just found your blog and I’m absolutely loving it. I’m not very good when it comes to make-up but your videos give me confidence in trying. Unfortunately I don’t really know which products are the best, so this helps a lot! Only thing is I’m from Germany and we don’t have all the products π
Thank you though for your great posts

Hi Jill – I’m really curious what color do you use in the Cle de Peau concealer? It’s been on my list to try for years, but the price is killer. I’m definitely swayed by the idea that you’re able to make yours work when you’re tan and pale–I fake tan every couple weeks so my color fluctuates a lot and I usually have to buy two colors in everything.

Hi Kate,
I use Beige in the Cle de Peau concealer… I know that it’s expensive, but it’s honestly my favourite concealer!
